This is a deliberate technical choice. Hair contains carbon-rich keratin that can be purified to 99.95%+ and grown into a genuine diamond via HPHT. Cremation ashes are predominantly calcium phosphate with high impurity levels — incompatible with the HPHT process and unable to produce a quality stone.

Algordanza is a Swiss company, so NZ customers should account for current exchange rates, international shipping, certification, setting choices, and delivery timing. Silmaril offers custom loose memorial diamonds by enquiry, or 18K necklaces from NZ$2,850 with NZ delivery included.
Silmaril uses HPHT technology and targets VS clarity or better and E–H colour. Final grades are confirmed after cutting and 4C assessment. Compare each provider's current certificate, inclusions, growth method and setting details before choosing.
Silmaril's customer delivery estimate is approximately 100 days from receipt of a suitable sample. This includes the approximately 60-day diamond production cycle, international logistics, jewellery setting and New Zealand delivery.
The main reason would be if you have only cremation ashes — Silmaril does not accept ashes. International providers like Heart In Diamond and Algordanza do. If you have hair, Silmaril offers transparent NZ pricing, local customer support, and managed China lab logistics.
