This is a deliberate technical choice. Hair contains carbon-rich keratin that can be purified to 99.95%+ and grown into a genuine diamond via HPHT. Cremation ashes are predominantly calcium phosphate with high impurity levels — incompatible with the HPHT process and unable to produce a quality stone.

Silmaril's customer delivery estimate is approximately 80 days from receipt of a suitable sample. This includes the approximately 60-day diamond production cycle, international logistics, jewellery setting and New Zealand delivery.
